SENSITIZATION PROGRAMME ON THE DANGERS OF IRREGULAR MIGRATION AT NNAMDI AZIKIWE UNIVERSITY, ANAMBRA STATE ON THE 28TH DAY OF AUGUST, 2018.

Migration is a part of human existence which impacts all aspects of civilization, human and societal development. There are regular, safe and dignified routes to take if the need for migration arises. Youths are most vulnerable in the issue of irregular migration, hence the need to educate the youths on the dangers of irregular migration.                     Irregular Migration includes Migration through the Sahara Desert and the Mediterranean Sea or other similar routes.  Youths are admonished to SAY NO! to Irregular and Dangerous Migration. Migration should not lead to the grave.

The problem of migration management cannot be done by one arm, hence the sensitization programme was held by the Nnamdi Azikiwe University in collaboration with National Commission for Refugees,Migrants and Internally Displaced Persons (NCFRMI) and Civil Society Organization Network on Migration and Development (CSOnetMADE).

The event also featured a courtesy visit to the vice chancellor of the University.  In a bid to increase the awareness of Irregular Migration and  promotion of  opportunities for regular, safe and dignified migration, the school launched its Post Graduate Studies on Migration (Centre for Migration Studies).
